Muhammad Umar Khan

Biography

Muhammad Umar Khan is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Canberra (UC), Australia, since 2023. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering from COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Pakistan. Prior to joining UC, Umar taught at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Taxila for nearly ten years. Alongside his teaching role, he served as the Team Lead for Signal and Image Processing at the Syndicate of Embedded and Electronics Design (SEED) at UET for almost five years. His research interests lie in the development of cutting-edge algorithms that integrate signal/image processing, feature engineering, and advanced machine/deep learning techniques for computer-aided diagnosis and healthcare. Most of his research focuses on the detection of cardiac, pulmonary, and neurological disorders, as well as the assessment of pain. Additionally, his work extends to diverse domains, including machine fault diagnosis, biometric authentication, emotion recognition, and acoustic analysis.
